Write a first investor note without invented personalization

Create a direct email or a permission-based introduction request from approved company facts and one defensible reason for investor relevance.

What it does

Draft a first note using your company facts and a real reason for investor relevance.

What you get

An email or intro request ready for your review, without invented personalization.

The job of the first note is to make a relevant conversation possible. It is not to summarize the entire deck or persuade the reader that you already have a relationship.

Gather a small approved packet

You need the company's plain-language description, one current proof point, the round objective, and the recipient's verified relevance. If there is no company metric yet, use a real product or technical milestone rather than making up traction.

For an introduction request, also supply what the connector actually knows about you and whether they have agreed to help. The AI should never manufacture an endorsement on their behalf.

Evidence for every match

Know why a fund fits before you write

Each match shows the fund's stated mandate, cheque size and dated recent deals, with links to the sources.

Choose a factual opening with the investor email subject-line templates and ensure the body supports it.

Use the First Investor Email skill for a draft, then compare the Subject Lines skill against the same approved facts.

Worked example

This fictional packet describes BatchLedger, software that reconciles ingredient purchases for independent bakeries. It has three paid pilots as of 15 September. The supplied investor thesis discusses operational software for small food businesses. BatchLedger is raising a seed round, but the amount is not approved for disclosure.

A defensible draft says: “We help independent bakeries reconcile ingredient purchases. Three bakeries are using paid pilots as of 15 September. Your published interest in operating software for small food businesses looks relevant. We're raising a seed round to expand the product. Would a short overview be useful?”

It does not call those pilots recurring revenue, claim the investor is actively deploying, or name an amount. The example shows structure, not a promised response rate.

A failure case that should stop the draft

Suppose the source packet only says the investor backed a consumer food-delivery app. That does not support “you specialize in bakery operations.” Remove that sentence and flag the fit question. If the connector also never agreed to an introduction, produce a permission request instead of a ready-to-forward endorsement.

After a human reviews and sends the selected note, record it with the candidate. Use investor follow-up for the next interaction rather than rerunning first-contact copy. Find investors for your startup helps prepare the brief and shortlist; it does not send either version or create a warm relationship.
